According to Cinematical:

International science magazine New Scientist has reported that scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany, have developed a new software program that will obviate the need for actors to gain or lose weight quickly for roles. The new software gives filmmakers the ability to make an actor look heavier or thinner, taller or shorter, using 3-D scans and morphing technology to create an altered silhouette that can then be inserted into a scene.

We are one step closer to cyborgs! How cool is this?

Wes Anderson Preparing to Shoot Next Film ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ in Spring 2011 ⇢

But The Playlist talked to sources and heard that Anderson is seeking to cast a boy and girl, each 12, for the lead roles. That leads to supposition that Anderson might be moving forward in a mode inspired by Fantastic Mr. Fox, which would be not such a bad thing at all. Younger characters, a more youthful tone and/or family-oriented story? It’s an intriguing idea, at least.

So excited for this!

Emma Stone in Spider-Man ... as Gwen Stacy ⇢

Columbia just sent out a press release announcing Emma Stone joining the Spider-Man movie.

The move was expected since the Internet was abuzz with Stone on the list of female finalists, then about to get an offer, then receiving an actual offer.

But despite speculation that the red-headed star of “Easy A” and “Zombieland” would be playing Spider-Man’s love interest Mary Jane Watson, she will be playing Gwen Stacy, a blonde.

Well…that’s surprising.

Box Office Report
THR is not surprisingly reporting that Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps topped the Box Office this weekend.
I personally wanted to see it. Despite its god-awful title, I thought the trailers looked exciting, the premise semi-interesting and it stars Shia (some of you may know of my infatuation with him). If anything, it’d be a nice way to see NYC on the big screen.
I might actually go see it today. Any of you saw it or are planning on seeing it?

Stephen Fry to Play Mycroft Holmes in ‘Sherlock Holmes 2′ ⇢

If nothing else, the Sherlock Holmes films are becoming a haven for fun casting inspirations. Case in point: Stephen Fry has been cast to play Mycroft Holmes, the older and equally brilliant brother of Sherlock, in Sherlock Holmes 2.

Fry revealed to the BBC:

I’m playing Mycroft in the sequel to the Sherlock Holmes film Guy Ritchie directed with Robert Downey Jr., and that sort of part is fun, but just once in a while to play a genuine all round sort of lead figure with complexity and tragedy and wit and all the sort of things that Oscar [Wilde] had was a once in a lifetime thrill.

Brilliant. Bloody brilliant.
