Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, not bad for an unnecessary sequel
Gotta say, for an action movie, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol wasn’t half bad. Yeah, the plot is a bit overdone and rudimentary. We all know these folks are going to save the day at the end, but the film did provide a few surprises and director Brad Bird manages to build lots of suspense.
I’m the first to admit that Tom Cruise can be a tad grating, but at 49 he performed a stunts that guys half his age would be lucky to pull off. Jeremy Renner was a nice addition to the cast, providing lots of comic relief whenever Simon Pegg wasn’t in a scene. Paula Patton pretty much kicked ass. Michael Nyqvist makes an excellent villain, I only wish he would have had more onscreen time. Oh, and Losties will appreciate the fact that JJ Abrams, who produced the film, had Michael Giacchino score the film and Josh Holloway has probably a good 15 minutes of screen time. I wanted to scream SAWYER! as soon as I saw him. Overall I’d say, go for the awesome special effects and action sequences. I’m still trying to figure out the sandstorm car chase…
Oh and I saw it in IMAX. Why can’t all movies be in IMAX? It’s seriously the best way to watch a movie.

What if Michael Giacchino had scored Toy Story 3

As a Lostie, I somehow can’t take this scene too seriously—the awesome LOST score completely overshadows it. It just seems out of place to me. Giacchino’s score is still gold though.

[Caution: slight spoilers if you haven’t seen the film]

Lost's Damon Lindelof Re-Writing Ridley Scott's 'Alien' Prequel? ⇢

And I thought the Lost storyline was confusing. Deadline is reporting that the show’s writer and executive producer and the guy working with Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci on the Star Trek sequel, David Lindelof, is just about to seal the deal with Fox to help do some rewrite work on the Alien prequel. But, like Lost, it isn’t as simple as that.

As a Lostie, I am so glad Lindelof is back in the action so soon. But a prequel to Alien? Really, Damon, really? How about working on some LOST spin-offs that answer some unresolved questions, huh?
